Cape May - I oppose a 1% sales tax for shuttle services. We need a shuttle because there’s not enough parking. A main reason for the parking shortage is because so many spaces are taken by people with private parking permits. These spaces are not open to the public even when empty. The cost to reserve a private parking space is a ridiculously low $500 per year. Can you imagine being able to rent a prime piece of real estate (a guaranteed parking space in front of your house) for $500 a year. Let’s increase the cost of private parking to help cover the shuttle instead of a sales tax which hurts everybody.
