Cape May - I come from an extended family of long-time hockey fans. We are disgusted by the Kate Smith debacle and will never watch another Flyers game. What did this woman do to be treated like a disgraced citizen? She sang a song that was popular when social norms were far different than they are today. She was not racist, the song is a satire. Why not disgrace everyone who ever sang that song (there are many, including blacks)? Or burn every book, film, or cultural reference with satirical undertones? Read Orwell, that’s where we as a country are headed if we continue to accept this madness.
