Cape May - The fiasco in Cape May continues with the third disciplinary hearing for the former police chief. The city is pushing for a 16-day suspension for Captain Sheehan for qualifying with his weapon sooner than required. In 2009, he qualified twice, as required, but the second time he tested before the required 90-day interval between tests. I can't believe the city is wasting our tax dollars pursuing this frivolous issue from seven years ago. I believe three weeks lost salary is an exorbitant penalty for such a minor infraction, and the whole issue has to be a real morale deflater in the CMPD.
