One of the responsibilities of government is to protect the minority from the majority. Democracy is mob rule. Two wolves and one sheep voting on what's for dinner. We have the electoral college so that the vast rural areas are not ruled over by smaller densely populated cities. What is good for a city is not necessarily good for the rest of the country. Would you want all power to be concentrated in the cities? No one else to have a voice?
