They should look closer at permit parking fees (fees that property owners pay for dedicated parking spaces in front of their properties). The annual fee is $500 ($42 a month). Imagine being able to rent prime real estate, such as a parking space in a congested city, for $42 a month. These parking spaces can sit empty for months and no one else can park there. Parking is one of Cape May's biggest problems, yet we practically give away hundreds of parking spaces. Fees should be increased and proceeds should be used to create a parking fund.
