Cape May - Al Sharpton was in Florida protesting because the police did not arrest a white man for shooting and killing an African American man in a disputed "stand your ground" shooting. While the merits of the Florida case can be widely debated, Sharpton seems to have missed an opportunity to protest for a much more urgent problem. Twelve people were killed and 66 wounded by gunfire in multiple incidents in Chicago over one weekend. The mayor and police chief made a plea for an end to the violence.
