Two women made online comments indicating that with added benefits, the $21,000 a young member of the military makes is not that bad. It's obvious that neither one of them has to live like that. Thank God for food stamps and WIC, otherwise their kids would go hungry. Their so-called "free medical" care has limited providers and co-pays for dependents. Living off base expenses are barely met. Deployments, short or long disrupt family life and kids go through four or five different school systems K thru 11. I love when lifelong civilians tell us how good the military has it.
