State Senate President Steve Sweeney says that offshore wind farms will "transform the state’s economy with thousands of well-paying jobs". Exactly what are these thousands of jobs? Are they just short term for construction? That would not be a transformation. Or does each individual turbine require a perpetual team of full time workers to keep it running? Don't they just sit there and spin, passively generating electricity? A few small teams for maintenance, sure, but thousands of jobs transforming the state's economy? Really? These gross exaggerations make me question everything they say.
