To the spouter who wants more open space and land preservation: I agree that the sprawl is too much. However, preserving your farmland is a voluntary program. The farmer has to want to preserve his farm for perpetuity and accept all the deed restrictions that comes with that. Many farmers are devoted to their farms and the thought of having them developed into residential or commercial space makes them sick. Those are the farmers who go into preservation. There are others who may love the land but for financial or personal reasons have no choice but to sell to a developer.
