Shoppers here should be hopeful that reports of Aldi coming to the former Stop n' Shop site might do something to make grocery buying in our depressed region more affordable. It is almost a disgrace that an area with an overall average annual income about $30,000 does not offer more places for shoppers with such limited incomes. Yet, if you live in more affluent areas in North Jersey, there are many places in malls which have competitive food shopping.
