Maybe lack of education, lack of intelligence, reverse snobbery or misplaced and misinformed indignation may spur some of these anti-beach replenishment spouts. Beach replenishment does not just protect millionaires' mansions. It protects the homes of thousands of us who have lived on the islands for generations; hotels, motels, stores, restaurants and businesses that feed our otherwise feeble economy. All summer long those mansions, and hotels and motels are rented to tourists who are why we have year-round stores, hospitals and services. It is not rocket science.
