Cape May County - The vast majority of “encounters and apprehensions” at the border do not involve Hollywood style dramatics, or “chasing people down”. For the most part they are families and individuals, walking right up to border agents saying they are here seeking asylum, just like the law requires them to do. Those desiring to “sneak through” don’t arrive at monitored, designated crossings. This is the number that could be greatly reduced by having them apply at US embassies in their own country. They are not “invaders”, just following US law. Change the law, and you end the border being overwhelmed.
