Cape May County - As with homeowners insurance in Florida, actuaries are now running risk analysis on insurance rates for electric vehicles after several explosions and fires due to submersion and corrosion intensified by brackish water. I’m going to assume rate increases will be rather substantial because the fire takes as long as 6 hours for the fire department to extinguish, and the risk is much higher of it causing additional property damage and possible loss of life than an ICE vehicle, so rates will be priced accordingly. If I owned an electric car, parked anywhere near a structure, I’d be concerned.
