Cape May County - Every year the bicycle situation seems to get worse in the barrier islands. Bicyclists often mistakenly believe that cars need to yield to them and they, cyclists, are exempt from traffic rules. While it is tough to pressure shore PDs to taking stricter enforcement measures, the Herald could publish front page public service announcements advising cyclists that they MUST follow all of the same laws as motorists, and that motorists do not have to yield to bikes. It may not fix the problem, it it would be a step in the right direction.
