Cape May City and Cape May County have been recycling for decades. As a local resident I was shocked to see Cape May City itself does not recycle. I was having coffee on Washington Street Mall one morning and observed city workers emptying the trash containers. They would take the recycle containers and dump them into the regular trash containers and then bag it up and haul it away. At first I thought it was a mistake by the employees so I went back several times in the last month and it turns out this is a normal practice. Why have recycling containers out if the City does not recycle?
