When people complained that he was negotiating with terrorists, he explained, "No. You see, they're not terrorists!" It reminds me of an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where he was caught pretending to be his brother, Robert. His excuse, "I can explain. I am Robert." Both were obviously untrue, lame excuses.
