Avalon - Why is it people can't see the long-term effects of their actions? We pumped piles of sand onto the beach out of fear that if there is no beach there will be no summer economy. Meanwhile it appears we've destroyed the inshore fishing and messed up the local surf breaks. And we're gonna have to pump all this sand back again in a couple years because it's gonna wash away. "It's not nice to fool mother nature", somebody could get hurt.
