Avalon - Sixty-four police officers were killed in the line of duty last year in the U.S. by gun violence - more than one a week. If it weren't too easy for the "bad guys" to get guns, thanks to the NRA's and its supporters' "any gun for anyone, anytime, anywhere, anyway" philosophy, some of those officers, quite probably most of them, would still be alive. Blue lines on the highway may be a sign of respect for our policemen and policewomen, but they don't save police officers' lives. Stronger gun control laws that stop bad guys from getting guns do.

According to a CNN article Dec. 13, 2016, "At least 64 law enforcement officers have been shot and killed this year, the most in five years, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund."
