Avalon - The siren used to alert the volunteer firemen of who knows what is getting to not only be a joke, but has diminished the use of a warning system for the "big stuff," like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. With today's technology, the sirens are outdated. The tired arguments of "what if someone forgot their beeper" is a cop out. In the summer, the siren may sound 10 times a day and night, waking up children and adults alike. The volunteer firemen do a great job, but need to start listening to the hundreds that are affected by this deafening noise.
