Avalon - On Sept. 26, 1918, just 100 years ago, over 1 million Americans marched into World War 1's Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the deadliest battle in this country's history. More the 26,000 of them never marched back. How few know of it, or the sacrifices those Americans made. There are none left alive to tell the story, so it falls to us, to honor their memory. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it (Santayana). I just want to bring this to everyone's attention in memory of my grandfather, who suffered wounds there that killed him years later.
