Avalon - Remember the guy who ran in New York on the platform "the rent's too damn high?" Someone needs to run in Avalon. The platform: "the houses are too damn big!" These monstrosities are a fire hazard and a flood hazard due to stormwater runoff. Too little landscaping, too many cars and a larger than life sense of entitlement; ratables be damned, it's ruining what once was a nice, family town.
Moderator's Note:
For several decades now, most of Cape May County's island communities have been in a transition from year-round towns to non-resident, second-home towns. This is because the extreme desirability of Cape May County to the affluent city dwellers surrounding us is becoming ever-better known. Year-round Cape May County home buyers receiving local wages cannot generally afford to compete and move offshore or out of our county. Over time, most things change; we need to accommodate this change and learn to thrive from this investment in property, and from the tax money.
