Avalon - Recently, good friends were riding bikes in Avalon. As they approached 1st Ave. and were riding side by side, a police officer pulled them over. He asked for name, address, and social security number. It turns out he ran a criminal background check on them. After sitting on a curb for 15 minutes, they were finally released without being ticketed or jailed. Has it really come to this? On any given weekend, hundreds of bicyclists violate this "ride single file" law. But a background check? How about a warning regarding road safety and call it a day?
