Avalon - Received an emergency call that we were going to get 2 inches of rain and the town would flood Aug. 7. The real emergency is that the zoning board and zoning department that is supposed to be enforcing Avalon's zoning laws is not. Avalon's forefathers zoned Avalon to have some open space. For the last 15 years, the "allow it, or give them a variance" philosophy has left less open air and space and less ground for the water to percolate into. Avalon has contractors and real estate affiliates on council running the town, and it is a shame. Three years should be the limit on officials.
