Avalon - Nov. 11, 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the end of hostilities in World War I. 116,516 Americans died in that war. Today, it is only a matter of discussion for historians. No WWI veterans remain alive; a few of the relatives and friends who knew them personally, or heard their stories are still with us. Politically, this may be the defining event in this country's role in international politics. Too few care to remember. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Armistice was signed at Compiegne, and what we once called Armistice Day, is now Veterans Day.
