Avalon - The new Surfside Park is completely at odds with nature. Why grass? Why rubber? Sand and dune grasses have served the environment well. This barrier island seems intent on manicuring and controlling every square inch. No native plantings coupled with high-maintenance landscaping benefits connected suppliers but does nothing for migratory birds. We are disconnected from nature, and this planned park that looks like it was ordered online, only makes the dissonance more obvious.
