Avalon - Maine on Thursday became the second state to declare former President Donald Trump ineligible to serve as president for his involvement in an insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows made the decision booting Trump off the state’s ballot under an interpretation of the 14th Amendment that argues Trump cannot serve again because he supported or “engaged in insurrection or rebellion.” The decision follows a similar ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court last week, which will almost assuredly end up in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in the coming weeks.
