Avalon - I too have been coming to Seven Mile Island for more than 60 years and to question why we can't have more trees for beauty and shade does not imply that we are trying to make it like the main line, where I am also a resident. Have you ever wondered why the recurring adjectives used to describe Cape May are inviting, quaint, beautiful and picturesque? Perhaps it is due to the beautiful trees as opposed to the filthy scrub pines that line our medial strips! I am still looking for these "wide, open, spacious lots" you mention while slamming a tree as being hulking, overgrown timber.
