Avalon - I had to make a trip out of town at 4 a.m. Dec. 3, and returned about an hour later. I passed a police radar unit on the way out and in the exact same spot on the way back. I can't imagine that we have more than two police cars on duty in the middle of the night in December. But as a taxpayer, I'd prefer to have them driving past my home rather than sitting on Avalon Blvd. for one-plus hours in the middle of the night looking for the occasional speeder.
