Avalon - Five generations of my family have vacationed in Avalon for over 35 years. From infants to octogenarians, we have enjoyed the beaches, parks and fishing piers of both Avalon and Stone Harbor. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars in the restaurants, shops and family-oriented businesses on the island, but virtually no money in establishments that serve alcohol. Our money is spent doing things as a family. The idea of a hotel/restaurant/bar outside the established hotel district on the island is a turn-off and prompts me to Google “quiet beach towns” in other states. No hotel!
