Avalon - During WWII, Americans were asked to sacrifice to support the war effort. And we did, making many sacrifices, often making our lives more difficult.
Contrast that with the response of some to being asked to wear a mask to combat COVID19. Too many people think they are being persecuted, that they are being deprived of their personal liberties if they are asked to perform the simple task of wearing a mask. If that self-centered, self-absorbed attitude had prevailed during WWII, we would have lost that conflict.
