Avalon - Coastal marshes are vitally important for both birds, wildlife, and humans. They host a phenomenal variety of wildlife that rely on the marshes for food, nesting, and resting. They are vital nursery grounds for fish and shellfish. AND they provide protection against damage to property and infrastructure as well as loss of life during storm surges and flooding. Unfortunately these marshes are being destroyed by global warming. Global warming causes sea rise which in turn floods the marshes and destroys them. Another disastrous consequence of global warming.
