Avalon - The call to defund Planned Parenthood, echoed in recent letters to the Herald, is a perfect example of the reality of moral relativism/situational ethics. If defunding prevented Planned Parenthood from performing abortions, it would also jeopardize or deprive low-income women of needed, critical health care services provided by Planned Parenthood, such as cancer screenings, gynecological exams and HIV testing. It would be difficult, if not impossible, for these women to receive such services from another provider, because they would have to pay the full cost of the service.
