Avalon - An Avalon Spouter is correct. The CDC estimates that in the five and a half months of this flu season, between 29,000 and 59,000 Americans have died of the flu. The lower number results in an average of about 5300 deaths a month; the higher number, about 10,700 deaths a month. However, in three months of the coronavirus, 95,000 Americans have died, an average of about 31,700 a month. Based on those numbers, the coronavirus is between three times and six times as deadly as the flu. The death rate per infection must also be considered: for flu, 0.1%; for coronavirus, 10 times that.
