A Wildwood spouter has a choice. He can support efforts to deter gun violence through enactment of stronger gun-control laws to keep guns out of the hands of "bad guys," or he can oppose those efforts, as the NRA does, and he can continue to advocate the punish-the-criminal or armed-citizen "solutions" to gun violence. If he chooses the latter course, he in fact admits that he prefers to let the crime occur, let more mass murders happen and then react, after people have been killed. It's true of disease and gun violence; far better to try to prevent it than to react after it happens.
