We can't claim to be a God-fearing, devoutly Christian nation and at the same time conduct a sordid love affair with guns. The virtual idolization of the Second Amendment is in contradiction to, in violation of, Christian values. Being a good Christian means striving to always emulate Christ. Would Jesus be a proponent of the Second Amendment? A defender of the right to keep and bear arms? If Jesus were here today, would we see him striding the landscape, and preaching the Gospel, with a semi-automatic rifle slung over his shoulder and a pistol holstered at his waist?
