A Villas spouter thinks that the NRA lobbies for legislation that "keeps firearms out of the hands of criminals and unstable individuals". That statement is stunning in its inaccuracy. In fact, the NRA does precisely the opposite, opposing such legislation repeatedly and consistently, on the grounds that it would infringe on gun owners' rights. As well, the NRA opposes any legislator who supports such legislation. A recent example of the NRA's position, one of an endless number that could be cited, was its role in riling up the troops in Colorado to recall two pro-control state legislators.
