Those who blame Obama for government gridlock don't understand the situation in Washington. Even before Obama took office, Senator McConnell announced congressional Republicans' goal of making him a one-term president. Their strategy: oppose and obstruct everything Obama tries to do, even if his proposal is something good for the country, such as rebuilding our infrastructure. Obama has reached out to congressional Republicans time and time again, only to be rebuffed. It's akin to a marriage in which one spouse says, "Let's talk" and the other says, "I refuse to talk to you."
