Competitively bidding services to private firms, police, water, trash, fire, etc. The firms can perform efficiently and cost effectively. Workers' benefits would be in line with the private sector. Jobs would be created and taxes would be lower." First of all, no jobs would be "created." People would perform the same jobs, whether paid by government or private contractor. Prospective employees would demand the same level of wages for the type of employment, unless of course you drastically reduced the hiring standards.
