A spout about bicycles on First Avenue in Avalon was 100 percent correct. From dawn till dusk it is a steady stream of bikes and skateboards that fill the street from curb to curb with no regard for safety or traffic laws. It is almost like they are on a designated bike trail instead of a town street. After dark, it continues, with no one with lights on their bikes. Years ago, police stopped cyclists and at least warned them, but now they are ignored and allowed to ride wild. Lots of people have to drive cars and trucks, and they have to drive on First Avenue.
