Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) repeatedly has put love of country, fidelity to the rule of law and devotion to democracy above partisan and career advantage. He voted twice to remove President Donald Trump from office and supported a commission to investigate Jan. 6, 2021. Unlike cowering fellow Republicans, he has candidly denounced Trump’s bigotry, condemned his genuflecting to dictators and pronounced him unfit for the presidency. He recently went a step further. “I don’t begin to be able to understand how it is so many people can accept the dishonesties that have been spoken by Donald Trump,”
