Recently, my 8-year-old son got suspended from school. He came home crying saying he is not allowed to go to school because he called a girl (who transitioned into a guy) a girl. He explained that the new boy did not have any characteristics like a normal boy has. I already called the school and complained but they said it was bullying. I'm sorry, but if you consider yourself another gender and do not act or dress like the one you are going to be, it's pretty hard to tell if you are a girl or boy.
Moderator's Note: The suspension did not occur in Avalon or Stone Harbor schools, according to Superintendent Stacey Tracy.
