I got 35 'thumbs down' when I spoke in favor of taxes going for beach replenishment, and I reminded everyone that without the barrier islands we would have nothing in this county. I seem to have struck a sore spot. The tourists come to play east of the parkway. If you take away those shore towns, there is no reason for the rest of us to live here. What else do we have that would support our year round population?
