People come down for the weekend, putting their trash cans out Sunday night when they leave. The trash sits on the curb, often blowing in storms or eaten by seagulls until midweek pickup. To keep our island pristine we should follow Stone Harbor’s system of homes keeping trash cans in their designated spot and public works men retrieving the cans from the side of the property and returning to the spot after collection. Not only will this make the town look nicer, it will make it cleaner.
