Avalon

Four dead whales have washed ashore along our NJ coast in the last month. No visible strike injuries. Only the most recent two were sampled and it will be months to determine the cause, if at all. While we wait to see if it’s finally attributed to plastics, virus or current survey activity in the area for offshore wind, there is no slowing of the destruction of our ecosystems. NOAA’s Chief of Endangered Species made BOEM aware in May 2022 that construction and operation of offshore wind turbines could result in the extinction of Right whales yet this is the greener path.
