Every time a shooting occurs in our country, whether a massacre such as those at Sandy Hook or Virginia Tech, or the cowardly execution-style ambush of a policeman, we should ask the question we're always supposed to ask in our "devoutly Christian" society: What would Jesus say? Would Jesus blithely tolerate the bloody carnage of gun violence in the U.S.? Would Jesus casually accept the gruesome toll of 30,000 deaths, and untold numbers wounded or suffering emotional trauma, each year due to gun violence, as the NRA and gun-rights advocates do? Would Jesus be a member of the NRA?
