Beach replenishment/flood insurance debate rages on, but it seems that our off-shore friends seem to forget that most of us islanders are not rich, do not live in mansions and work at the same jobs that they do. They seem to be jealous of the fact that we live closer to fishing, boating and beach going than they do. Lots of us landed here in the 50s when island land was cheap, and some even built businesses that employ lots of off-shore folks. Like an Ocean City spouter said, I don't plan on leaving either. I pay for my flood insurance, and our tourists here keep the county in business.
