Avalon borough officials were not asleep at the wheel when wealthy landowners destroyed 8000 square feet of dune vegetation and bird and wildlife habitat to install a lawn. No, those officials were like a hit-and-run driver fleeing the scene of the crime. The officials were well aware of the damage done and "drove away" from the scene. The landowners and the borough officials are blatantly complicit in the damage done to the dunes, and should be severely reprimanded.
