Popular Mechanics just reported that Portugal, a nation of 10 million people, just ran on renewable energy alone for 149 hours. In the event of a worldwide apocalypse type catastrophe such as a World War 3, I bet New Jersey would be much, much better off with all the offshore wind in place, than otherwise. It wouldn't require international industries to mine, refine, or ship fossil fuel. Also I bet the wind power plants require fewer people to run, and take less knowledge to run.
