As a conservative Christian and I need to say this with my whole chest: What President Donald Trump shared was racist. It was not misunderstood,“taken out of context”, or a joke. A video depicting former President Obama and Michelle Obama as apes is vile and dehumanizing. And I’m sick of the spin. Stop. It was shared from his account. And when he was asked to apologize, he refused. That tells me everything I need to know. Conservatism does not mean blind loyalty. Christianity does not mean silence. And neither requires me to defend sin just because it wears a red tie.
