A Russia-backed network called Portal Kombat runs hundreds of websites spreading disinformation. It’s targeting AI models such as ChatGPT, Grok and Gemini. Portal Kombat’s goal is to influence AI models to pass along propaganda to users in response to questions. Americans need to use the counterspy techniques of the C.I.A. Use multiple sources to check information. Test those sources regularly for reliability. Never get complacent and trust one source without thinking. We need to develop an education curriculum for critical thinking, identifying misinformation, and spotting A.I. fakes.
